At Somewhere Haus, we set out to create something different. Something smaller, quieter, and more thoughtful. Our studio is a 300 sq ft light-filled space located in East Grand Rapids, designed for creators who want their work to speak louder than the setting.

We intentionally stripped it back. No boho overload. No clutter. Just curated furniture, flowing drapery, soft seating, and the kind of natural textures that feel like a breath of fresh air. The result? A modern, organic studio that feels warm without being overstated.

This space is designed for photographers, content creators, and brands to use as their own. From portrait sessions to UGC shoots to styled product photos—Somewhere Haus is a flexible backdrop for creative work that wants to feel elevated, effortless, and grounded.

The Story Behind the Name…

At its heart, Somewhere Haus embodies the spirit of creativity — that inspiration isn’t always found in the expected places. Sometimes it’s hidden in the quiet moments of everyday life; other times, it sparks from collaboration, experimentation, or the simple joy of making something beautiful.

We chose Somewhere to remind us (and you) that the journey of creating is about exploration, discovery, and letting ideas flow — wherever they might lead.

Haus — the German word for “house” — felt like the perfect fit for the kind of space we wanted to build: warm, intentional, and design-forward, a place that feels lived-in and yet ready for new stories to unfold. It’s our way of inviting you to make this space your own, whether you’re shooting a campaign, hosting a workshop, or gathering with like-minded creatives.

At Somewhere Haus, you’ll find the freedom to create, the space to breathe, and a home for your ideas — no matter where they come from.

FAQs

  • Our studio is open every day from 6am to 10pm, giving you the flexibility to book when inspiration strikes — from sunrise shoots to cozy evening sessions. If you have an event that you want to end later than 10pm, please email us for accommodation.

  • Every session includes access to the entire studio, styled furniture, seamless paper backdrops, complimentary Nespresso coffee and tea, and a 10-minute buffer at the end of your session for clean-up.

  • Yes! We have one parking spot in the lot next-door that can fit two smaller cars at once. There is also free street parking on Bagley Ave + all along Wealthy St, making it easy and convenient for you and your clients.

  • Absolutely! We encourage you to bring anything that will make your session feel more personal or on-brand. Just let us know in advance so we can make sure there’s enough space to accommodate your setup.

  • All bookings are non-refundable, but we understand that plans can change. You’re welcome to reschedule your session up to 1 hour before your scheduled time.

  • You’ll receive a unique lockbox access code 24 hours before your session to make entry smooth and secure.

  • We ask that you treat the space with care. No smoking, open flames, or confetti/glitter is allowed. Please leave the studio in the same condition you found it.

  • Yes — coming soon! We’re working on an events calendar to bring our community together through workshops, pop-ups, and more. Stay tuned!
