Your Grand Rapids Photography Studio

At Somewhere Haus, we wanted to build a space that felt different from the typical photo studio. Something smaller and much more intentional. Tucked in the heart of East Grand Rapids, our 300 sq ft natural-light studio was designed for photographers, content creators, and small brands who value clean design, warm light, and an elevated atmosphere.

We kept the space simple on purpose. No trendy clutter or loud decor. Just warm light, modern organic furnishings, textured walls, soft tones, and thoughtful details that make the room feel calm the moment you walk in. It’s the kind of studio where you can create work that takes center stage because you have a quality environment to support your visions.

Somewhere Haus is meant to be used as your own. Whether you’re shooting portraits, lifestyle content, brand campaigns, UGC videos, or product photos, the studio adapts easily to your vision. The neutral palette and natural textures create a warm, design-forward backdrop without ever overwhelming your subject.

That elevated lived-in look?? It’s exactly what we provide here.

The Story Behind the Name…

When we started planning the space, we had zero idea what to call it. We spent days bouncing around random words, making lists, saying things out loud to see if they had a spark. At some point, I read off the words “somewhere” and “house” next to each other… and it stopped us in our tracks. It felt interesting. It didn’t really make much sense, and that’s exactly what we loved about it.

We loved that Somewhere is limitless. It can mean anywhere. It can be a destination or a feeling or just an idea. And that’s exactly what we wanted this studio to be:

A warm, curated, lived-in space that feels like home — but also transforms into an elevated backdrop for brands, portraits, or content.

somewhere to create
somewhere to meet clients
somewhere to connect and collaborate
somewhere to experiment
somewhere to escape your everyday life

Then there’s Haus. Ben speaks fluent German, so using the German word for “house” felt like the perfect nod to him. But more than that, it captured the vibe we wanted: intentional, design-forward, cozy without being cluttered.

And we specifically didn’t want the name to include the word “studio.” We didn’t want to box ourselves in.
We wanted a name that could grow and evolve with us, along with the creators who use the space. Somewhere Haus felt open-ended, flexible, and uniquely ours.

Just a place that could become whatever people needed it to be.

Somewhere to create. Somewhere to belong. Somewhere to get inspired.

“Dreamyyy studio with a very elevated client experience — waters/coffees stocked, thoughtful touch-up tools in the bathroom, and you can just tell the space is well cared-for! Favorite part was the automatic backdrops in gorgeous colors and the 10 minute clean-up time buffer. Also LOVE that the tones of the decor are warm but still neutral enough for any edits. Definitely recommend, especially for portraits — overall easy booking and will be back!”
